The existing Dr B C Roy Club House at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata was in need of a Tensile Membrane Roof as a part of its renovation process, initiated by the Cricket Association of Bengal. The PWD Department was in charge of structural engineering and 53M of Ahmedabad was the architect on the project. It posed a challenge due to its 30 metre height and design requisites. Tata Structura was the obvious choice as it met all the criteria. The total area of the structure covered 1288 sq. m and Structura hollow sections were used in the construction. As always, Tata Structura played a significant role, helping the architectural experts reach their structural goals. There was a considerable cost reduction, precious time got saved and the result was an aesthetically amazing structure. The light weight but sturdy hollow sections fulfilled all requisites far beyond expectations. Once again, Tata Structura successfully provided innovative, aesthetic and cost-effective solutions to emerge a winner in the Eden of cricket.
